Time to take your trusty Rega 2/3 to the next level in both cosmetics and sound?
Let me introduce you to the Regal (Rega + Lerange).
This is not an off the shelf purchase and it is custom built to your specific preferences/taste. The basics stay the same and these are the steps that are taken:
1. Your Rega plinth get covered in real uncorrected leather.
2. The bottom of the plinth gets a layer of Dynamat extreme, adding weight and reducing vibrations within the plinth.
3. The new Lerange plinth is a piece of 22mm MDF/Chip boxed with solid wood of your choice.
4. The original Rega plinth fits inside this new Lerange sub base and rests on four of the correct model Vibrapods.
5. The sub base rests on either four stainless steel spikes or on 4 Vibrapod cones.
Options include(but not limited):
1. High gloss finish (in excess of 20 layers).
2. Laminated solid wood with different combinations (those on photos are cherry with a thin strip of Imbuia)
3. Different colours leather.
